It would be easier for me to use the trout if it made a stop in the morning and at night at the highland grove general store. to use it currently i have to drive to cardiff or baptiste which defeats the purpose for me and my family.
Thanks, Ian for your suggestion. We are currently looking at adding Highland Grove to the route and my understanding is that it is being brought forward to council by one of the municipal councillors. I am uncertain as to the time line however.

I am a senior and I use the T.R.O.U.T on a regular basis as a senior It is a great service and the driver is a very kind person that helps us with everything. I think we are very lucky to have this service and such a responsible driver
well I have used the T.R.O.U.T since it has been in service after several months i can say that i dont think the bus that is used by the seniors should do the daily runs around the town when a senior needs picking up from a dr’s office they don’t need to stand and wait for 20 minutes because the bus is out on the road heading to the CTC stop. , this takes to much time and people are already leaving the town half and hour earlier . I will only be useing the bus when I have to not weekley like I always have, IT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE DRIVER. its the general way the bus schedule is set up. There are at least two buses keep one for the seniors and use the other to operate the T.R.O.U.T local bus runs
Thank you, Joy for your comments to us.
We would love to have two buses running with one for Seniors and the other for public transportation. However, the funding we receive (through rider fares, municipalities, fundraising, CFDC, etc) does not allow us to operate two buses. In fact, one of the main reasons we started a public transportation service ( T.R.O.U.T.) was to try to ensure a sustainable transportation service for all, including seniors. Prior to the initiation of the TROUT, there were not enough seniors using the bus to make it financially viable.
The bus for seniors was never meant to be a taxi like service where folks could call for it and it would be there right away. So, unfortunately like any transportation service (other than driving your own car) there will be inconveniences.
We do also offer a volunteer driver program where you can arrange to be picked up at your door and taken directly to your appointment or chosen destination and then returned home when you want. Perhaps this would be another option for you. However, it does cost more than the TROUT. From Maynooth to Bancroft for example, it would cost $25.00 for a return trip instead of $8.00 return to take the bus.
Again, thank you for your comments.

I am thankful to finally have found your website. The TROUT is a great idea. I had a difficult time finding this site and getting information about T.R.O.U.T. I went to Google and searched for “T.R.O.U.T. Bancroft, Ontario” and “Transportation, Bancroft, Ontario”…no results. I called various stores in town and nobody could give me any answers. I went to the Bancroft & District Chamber of Commerce website to see if I could find T.R.O.U.T. and still no luck. Finally I spoke with a sales clerk on the phone and she suggested to try looking up “THE T.R.O.U.T. Bancroft” instead of just “T.R.O.U.T. Bancroft” and finally I found something. I discovered that the stores where the TROUT stops have no idea how to inform people about the website. It would be nice if the store personel where TROUT drops people off had the information available near their phones since the TROUT is doing them a service.
Is there a bus running Wednesday mornings from Bancroft to Paudash and then back to Bancroft? If so, what are the times? Are you allowed to get off at other stops along the way, other then the stops specified on the trip.
No, Frieda, there is no bus to Paudash on Wednesdays – only Fridays. We stop at Jack’s Meats at 10:05 and get to town at about 10:15. We then leave town again at 1:30 and get to Jack’s Meats at 1:50. Yes, you can get off along the way as long as there is a safe place for us to pull over. We would love to have a bus going every day however, we need to have enough folks to warrant it. So if you know other people out that way who would like to use the bus on different days, ask them to contact us. Thanks for your inquiry.
I am disabled and have lost my license due to a stroke. I’m moving to Diamond lake . I too would like to request service from Bancroft to Highland Grove with a stop at the Beach Road at Diamond Lake. I’dLlike to be able to have a close to normal life until I have recovered enough to drive again.
The above address is a valid email address
Thanks for your comments Steve, unfortunately, we don’t anticipate adding Highland Grove to the schedule any time soon. While we would love to be able to provide transportation to everyone in every community our resources are limited. But it is important to hear from people in terms of what they want and need so that when resources become available we can respond. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.
it’d be handy if the website here published departure times from say, peterborough and pickup places in peterborough, for people travelling to bancroft… much cheaper now to travel by via from toronto to bancroft using trout for the last leg of the trip, for instance, but there’s no indication here of departure times. thanks. r
